Birth of an idea
Since I developed my first BASIC application on an Apple IIc in 1984, I’ve been interested in solving real world problems with technology. A career in software development brought me to management and leadership roles in Banking and then into Higher Education. Then one fateful day in 2014, a senior academic colleague invited me to be part of the team preparing her faculty’s submission for course accreditation by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). It was a mammoth, and entirely manual process.
There has to be a better way, I thought. Surely someone has already solved this problem. After scanning the market globally, I was convinced that no company was addressing Curriculum Management, end-to-end, properly. Someone should. And that someone may as well be me, and thus Factor5’s purpose was set and CourseLoop was born.
